"V/A - Forgotten Songs From The 90's" - Part 2

Postby alessandro.cm » Aug 22nd, '11, 19:49

Introduction: F*CK F*CK F*CK! Now that I check my uploaded RAR carefully, I put a song from 2001 which was supposed to be in "Songs From The 2000's". My upload connection is TOO SLOW to delete the uploaded file and re-upload it so I apologize in advance for my lame mistake.

So here it is, the second part of a 26 songs compilation. I've tried to select random songs I really like from bands from the 90's that not too many people know or care about anymore. Why? Because it's always nice to listen to compilations with unknown bands that could make you discover your new favorite band. I've tried to mix all the subgenres of skatepunk (christian, swedish, 90's european sound, etc) so there will be songs for all tastes. All the songs are in VBR-0, the best quality I could provide you, as always ;) Hope you guys like some of the songs you didn't know before; I find them all pretty good. There's no order for the tracks, so they are alphabetically. Any feedback is appreciated.

PD: I find this second part way better than the first one, hope you guys too.

Part 1:
Against Time - I Ask Myself (Taken from their 1999 album "And Not For Anyone...") - Netherlands
Brain Püker - Uncut Grass (Taken from their 1997 split with Nut For Sale) - Quebec, Canada
Donuts N' Glory - Bitches Ain't Ho's (Taken from their 1996 album "When Pregnasaurs Ruled The Earth...") - California, USA
Five Knuckle Chuckle - Granola Boy (Taken from their 1997 album "All Hammed Up!") - Ontario, Canada
Gimp - TV Rapist (Taken from their 1999 album "Lost Aspiration") - California, USA
Loose End - Roman's Road (Taken from their 2001 album "Every Time I Fall") - California, USA
Nemless - Rising Sun (Taken from their 1998 album "Buy Drink, Gerb Beer") - France
Pigsty - I Won't Give Up (Taken from their 1999 album "So What's Next") - California, USA
Sagoh Twentyfourseven - Missionary Song (Taken from their 1999 album "Sagoh Twentyfourseven") - Florida, USA
Second-Chance - Four Months (Taken from their 1999 album "When It Rains It Pours") - New Jersey, USA
Skin Of Tears - Suicidal Thoughts (Taken from their 1995 album "Shit Happens") - Germany
Superdong - Don Lombardo (Taken from 1995 compilation "Salmons Of Hort") - Sweden
Tripwire - Downfall (Taken from the 1997 compilation "First Trip To Punkland") - Saskatchewan, Canada

Downloaded this and I felt in love with Nemless. I found their stuff on the net:

Nemless - Buy Drink, Gerb Beer (1998)
Nemless split with NOW'N'LATER (1999)
Nemless split with quatre degrés sept (2002)

Great comp!

The song Don Lombardo is also on the Birdnest For 10 Marks compilation. Did Superdong ever release anything else, Don Lombardo is the only song I know from them, and it so good!

Yes, it's from that compilation too. Superdong released a demo tape, with about 10 songs or something like that. They also have a song (Dr Spock) on Really Fast Vol. 7 (which was only released on vinyl), which is REALLY GOOD too (http://www.milogoestocollege.com/superdong.mp3). Before they were called Superdong, they were Skümback, and they released a demo tape too, with also 10 or so songs, but it's not as good as Superdong at all.

I just remembered, Don Lombardo is also featured on Ät Detta Morsgris, with other swedish skatepunk bands.

Some more information on Superdong... I think they must have release at least 3 or 4 demos all together... Under both names. I have a skümback tape, it's pretty good. But the Superdong songs are superior. I also own the really fast vol 7 comp and 2 cds with Don Lombardo... Safe to say, Superdong is one of my favorite bands.

Also, Ät Detta Morsgris has the same tracklist as Birdnest for 10 marks...
"Look at your life, cause I am sorry but that is it. And you think you're better off this way. But I think it's sad that you can't see. And you think it's better off this way but when the pleasure fades one day, where will you turn and where will you run? When it's all through and there's no more fun will there be time to turn it around? When you look up and ask Him will you be too late or be found?"
